“An Ode to Passion” on Apr. 28 aims to power the future of wine stewardship in Thailand by helping its female wine professionals shine.

Celebrating the stellar rise of female sommeliers in the Kingdom, Madison Steakhouse at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel invites wine connoisseurs to delight in an exquisite five-course wine pairing dinner with five female sommeliers.

From the choice of wine to food presentation, expect a distinctly feminine touch as the five ladies from some of Bangkok’s leading fine-dining establishments expertly guide you through their beverage selections and explain the origins and taste profile of each wine. Working closely with Anantara Siam chefs, they helped curate food pairings to complement five mystery wines selected across several flavour categories: water, wood, fire, earth and iron. By revealing the labels only at the time of serving, the organisers aim to keep the spotlight on the sommeliers instead of the wineries.

An amuse-bouche of brandade, horseradish and cucumber will prepare the palates for the first starter — tuna and hamachi served with avocado, daikon and yuzu and paired with “River Reflection,” a mystery wine selected by Sudarat Jankaew, the Beverage Ambassador and Sommelier at the Elements Restaurant.

The next wine of the night, a complex white from the hilly region, will be paired with a starter of lobster and white asparagus with tarragon, egg, and Chiang Mai greens. Prakaydaow Phoohuatalat, an Assistant Restaurant Manager and Sommelier at one of Bangkok’s fine five-star establishments, will be on hand to explain her choice and walk guests through the tasting notes.

Chanidapha Rakpirom, the Wine and Beverage Consultant at Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, named her selection “Feminist on Fire.” A medium-bodied red will be served with succulent barbecue duck with pear, star anis, kale and jus. The second main course, Wagyu beef striploin with potato and mushrooms, will be accompanied by a complex, earthy red selected by Atchara Wongthai Palleros, the Sommelier at Paste Bangkok.

Rounding it all off is a perfectly balanced combination of white chocolate, caviar and berries and beautifully rounded with notes of floral and red fruits chosen by Nutawan Jumpanak, Wine Guru at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and Thailand’s First Female Best Sommelier in 2019.

Priced at THB 4,990++ per person, the “An Ode to Passion” wine dinner will be served from 6:30pm-9pm at Madison, Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. To reserve a seat, call +66 2126 8866 or email [email protected]. Or visit our website at www.anantara.com/en/siam-bangkok.
