A group show at MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum features works by 38 artists and four archives, and runs until November 1.
MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum in Chiang Mai is proud to present ERRATA, a show encompassing works from 38 artists and four archives, including Galeri Nasional Indonesia, MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai, Nationalgalerie–Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and Singapore Art Museum. The collaboration, in development since 2017, is titled “ERRATA: Collecting Entanglements and Embodied Histories.” It runs until November 1, 2021.
The nature of this collaboration is to use each museum’s collection as a departure point to engage and dialogue with one another. One of the highlights is to celebrate the centenary of Joseph Beuys, as his social sculpture inspired many artists in the MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum and resonated with the Chiang Mai Social Installation, a series of artist-led festivals that connected the local art scene with Southeast Asian performance arts and beyond in the early 1990s.
Participating artists in the exhibition include Agung Kurniawan, Amanda Heng, Ampannee Satoh, Anuwat Apimukmongkon, Arahmaiani, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Arin Rungjang, Bruce Nauman, Chiang Mai Social Installation, Dansoung Sungvoraveshapan, Dolorosa Sinaga, Fiona Tan, FX Harsono, Ho Tzu Nyen, Indonesia New Art Movement, Jeroen De Rijke and Willem De Rooij, Joseph Beuys, Kamol Phaosavasdi, Kawita Vatanajyankur, Keiichi Tanaami, Khvay Samnang, Koh Nguang How, Melati Suryodarmo, Mit Jai Inn, Naiza Khan, Navin Rawanchaikul, Nutdanai Jitbunjong, Öyvind Fahlström, Pichet Klunchun and Shane Bunnag, Pramuan Burusphat, Paphonsak La-or, Ray Langenbach, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Sutthirat Supaparinya, Thanom Chapakdee, Thasnai Sethaseree, The Propeller Group, Tisna Sanjaya, Ulrike Rosenbach, and Wantanee Siripattananuntakul.
