Benzilla, one of Thailand’s best-known street artists, is exhibiting his work at River City Bangkok in his first solo show in seven years.

One of Thailand’s best-known street artists, Benzilla or Parinya Sirisinsuk, is the creator of the famous character LOOOK, a three-eyed alien. Benzilla has worked on this special solo exhibition in collaboration with River City Bangkok and Trendy Gallery. It is his most recent exhibition after a seven-year hiatus!

Midnight Call is a metaphor for nighttime, a time when the artist worked on his projects alone while coping with the anxieties inside his mind. All works in the exhibition were created during COVID-19, as most people worked from home. This time gave Benzilla chance to reflect about his past, present and future.

Benzilla connected with his inner self and employed his crystallised thoughts and new ideas into new artworks for this exhibition. He narrates stories through his highly recognisable signature character LOOOK. The exhibition features paintings, sculptures and skateboards. All of his artworks have been painted with a mixed-media technique involving spray paints, which are the signature of most street art, and acrylic paints including his special customised colour schemes produced in New York. Stencil is another technique that he employs.

With every piece of work, Benzilla pays meticulously attention to every detail for his fans to collect these works, which are produced in limited numbers.

In addition to striking colours and innovative techniques, Benzilla’s work also reveals his deep and meaningful insights into the world of his artworks. His character LOOOK is shown playing with marbles, representing various states of human minds that are bright with optimism and dim with fear. His painted skateboards reflect the times of day that everyone experiences: dawn, noon and evening.

Benzilla urges you to examine your own mind, your own time, and your own past, present and future while visiting the exhibition, just like he did when producing Midnight Call.

Benzilla has also launched a limited-edition T-shirt collection for the exhibition. The two designs feature his highly recognisable signature character. Order them now until Jan. 2, 2022 at https://rivercitybangkok.com/shop/?keyword=&orderby=&cats=lifestyle
